Happy Christmas from all the Amys!

As previously posted the Amys were immortalised this week in one of the ubiquitous Artists of Etsy Exposed Treasuries. Incredibly the Treasury was viewed by more than 700 people! 8 sales were made by 4 different Amys during the time – who knows if this was down to the Treasury but you can be sure that shop views went through the roof and a few more Hearts on top of that(all totted up thanks to craftcult!). It was a great bit of promotion for the Amys in the Arts Street Team and a good opportunity to put a face to a name – that name being Amy of course!

SewArtsy Amys Feature

Amy Sews

Fellow Amy and fellow sewer, Amy of Amy Sews can sew anything! She amazes me with her skills. In her shop you'll find colorful, quilted blankets, cuddly bears, super cute bags and darling hair poppers, but she also makes clothing for women and girls, and bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses and costumes. I am in awe! You can see more of her sewing talents at her myspace page.

Amy is a stay at home mom of 2, and right now is doing it all on her own as her husband is deployed and serving our country (thank you!!!).

I love this Mama Bear in her shop. I'm getting the hang of girly things now that I have a daughter, and I think this adorably sweet pink and green bear would make any little girl smile.

While you are checking out Amy's shop, grab up some halloween hair poppers for next year - they are on sale now!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Many blessings in 2009! Amy

SewArtsy's Featured Amy

PetiteAmi: Everyday Whimsy!

This week I'm featuring incredible artist Amy Mottola from Petite Ami. She's a multi-talented lady, and you'll see that in her shop. Amy is student teaching right now, and in all that spare time we know teachers have, she is still able to create these beautiful pieces. Her latest series of work has centered around the Saints, but the renderings are populated by animals rather than humans - like this one - quite interesting and inspiring. Amy lives in NY, and is also a member of the NY Hudson Valley Street Team. In her shop you'll find anything from etchings and deeply colored paintings to knit and crocheted items.

My favorite item in her shop is this Sleeping Wolf charcoal drawing! Right now I could use a little more sleep in my life, and this guy looks so peaceful and rested. I love that his fur looks so soft in 2D - such beauty!

Amy's artwork would bring holiday joy to any art lover this season - check out her shop!

SewArtsy's Featured Amy

amybean: comfy AND cozy

You've got to check out Amy's shop to believe it - incredible plush items for the adventurous in spirit! Wonderfully detailed plush robots inhabit Amy's shop. Showing the softer side of the robot nation, her new series finds them in their pajamas of all things! I am partcularly drawn to the beefy bods of the Lucha Robots, myself. This talented artist displays her love of lucha, her fasination with cryptozoology, and her skill at all things plush. I love the way she turns her "seemingly" everyday iems into artistic presentations in the way she presents her scarves and hats in her shop. It's like a gift right there on the screen!

I always love to hear the latest stories about mysterious cryptid sightings, so my favorite items in her store are the BigfootZ(tm) Doll and the Bigfoot Sighting Onsie!

Find Amy and her work at: amybean.etsy.com, cozy rampage, cozy robot, and the needle. Check her out!

SewArtsy Feature - Amy Singley

Another feature of my Amy teammates this week!

Adorn By Amy Singley: custom aritsan jewelry

Oh, what fun and gorgeous jewelry! And what an amazing lady! Adorn By Amy Singley's shop is saturated with incredible color and unique detail. It's just like a candy shop where you want to grab up every last morsel! Each beautiful bead full of color. Each design exquisitely unique.

Amy lives in Tennessee, and is a breast cancer survivor. It was during her period of surgery and chemo 5 years ago that she learned to love beading. Her first design was called "Survivor" as a reminder of strength, courage and hope! My favorite item of Amy's is the pair of Kyoto earrings. I love the curve of the hook and the beauty of the bead. They are darling, and understatedly glamorous! In her shop you'll find necklaces, earrings and bracelets. She also has a selection of sale items you won't want to miss.

ARE Jewellery, handmade bead accessories

We all need a little sparkle, no matter what time of year it is. I love the sophisticated, yet textrual and artsy look of Amy's pieces. I'd wear her unique designs from day to evening, and always feel I was wearing the right stuff. Her mixture of bead sizes, shapes and hues add interest and flair, and are pieces you will sparkle in!

Amy hails from Leicestershire England. She strives to find beautiful beads of glass, semi-precious stones and crystals to make thoroughly wearable items. Amy is a fellow Amy in the Arts, and also participates in the Etsy Midlanders Street Team.

My favorite item is the Pretty in Purple Necklace. My birthstone is the amathyst, so I'm always drawn to purple jewelry. I love the smoky quality of the beads, and the mixture of the different shades - and, of course, that gorgeous tear drop commands my attention! Check out Amy's shop today! October Challenge - Please Vote!

This is the Amys in the Arts Street Team's first challenge! We had to make something inspired by the following poem by Emily Dickinson:

“The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on."
- Emily Dickinson, Nature 27 - Autumn

So please vote for your favourite in the poll ----------->
Here are the entries:

1. AmyEsther's Green Daisy Pendant Bead:
2. Sewartsy's Wave Bag:

3. AmyRehnae's Art Print 'Fragile Beauty':

4. Caramel Corn Boro Earrings by adornbyamysingley:

5. amyzo's Happy Fall Cards:

6. 2 entries from amybean - a light green mini scarf and a dark green one too:

8. Petiteami's artwork 'Autumnal':

9. Esma's Linked Bangle Bracelets:

10. Tiger Eye and Smokey Quartz Endless Necklace by xmissamyx:

Featured Amy: Amy Esther Ceramics

The next Amy in my Amy series:

Amy Esther Ceramics

I find that I instantly warm up upon entering Amy Esther's Etsy store. Warm and rich pieces of wheel-thrown pottery adorn the walls of her shop. Take a browse and you'll see what I mean!

This 25 year old from Rochester, NY who currently lives, writes and throws in Philadelphia, spends her evenings creating her beautiful pottery pieces with her own modern take on ancient African designs. Time spent studying abroad in Botswana led her to an apprenticeship which would instill a love for pottery she brought back to the states with her. You'd expect to find bowls, cups and vases in a shop like this, which you will, but you can also find gems such as pendants, magnets and votive holders. The deeper you look, the more you'll fall in love!

Having a love, myself, for all things African, I just adore the Elegant Gold Vase. I love the authenticity of the design, and the peaceful feeling I get looking at it. Amy is presently accepting custom orders for the holidays until October 20, so act quickly! Her pieces will make great gifts for any occasion!

Checkout Amy's Etsy profile to learn more about her, and check out her blog, too, In the Night Kitchen!

Happy Wednesday! Amy

Featured Amy: Have Art

Next up in my featured Amy series:

Have Art

Do you have an affinity for pears? Amy Elise of Have Art sure does! This talented painter captures the beauty and essence of this understated fruit in her acrylic paintings. Check out her vibrant and unique variety of decorative paintings featuring crosses, symbols, word art, and yes, pears! I love the stylization and contemporary colors Amy uses in her renderings.

In addition to being a fellow Amys in the Arts team member, Amy is also a contributing member of CAST (Christian Artists Street Team) and Military Brats Street Team. Amy is a mother of three, and a gifted and inspirational artist. She incorporates her unique perspective into wrap-around canvases and wide array of decorative paintings. Check out Amy's Etsy shop: Have Art. She has several items in her shop right now for those of you looking for new Christmas decor. Her small-sized art makes a big impression, and any of her pieces would make a wonderful gift for any art lover!

My favorite? The lovely 6x6 painting entitled "Yummy Pear with Chocolate Background". This pear is my favorite shade of green, and paired with my favorite dark - a luscious brown which makes the pear jump off the canvas! I might just have to have it, unless you get there before me!

Sew Artsy's Featured Amy Team Member!

Feature by Sew Artsy

“Old jeans never die, they just go to…”

The Recycled Jeans Co.

“Old jeans never die…” Isn’t that so true? I love the look and feel of jeans. Denim is probably one of the most recyclable fabrics because its durable, great looking whether brand new or faded and shredded, and it only gets softer with age. Amy, from The Recycled Jeans Co., takes great care to offer you adorable, quality products that are made from mostly reclaimed fabrics. She’s an Army wife, a homeschooling mama, and a self-professed fabric-aholic (just like me!). 30 years ago her grandmother taught her how to sew, and now she loves to hunt down fabrics at thrift stores and yard sales to head on to the next challenge of making them new again! 10% of her profits go to local charities – gotta love that! Take some time to browse her shop today! My favorite: The Funky Denim Heart Pillow. I love the zipper pocket – so unexpected! You’ll find lunch bags, drink cozies, bears, totes, laundry bags, quilts and pillows, and much more!

GETTING BACK ON TRACK

Okay, we are going to try to get back on track with our street team!

When we first started this team I was super busy & everyone was going on vacation, getting married or planning a busy summer. Now we are heading into fall & everyone should be back & accounted for, so it's time to get back on track & really put some effort into this Team!

Are you with me Amys?!

  • FIRST - Go Join the Yahoo Group
Because the blog thing didn't work out like I thought it would (if you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry about it) I started a Yahoo Group called Amys in the Arts. This is what we will use primarily to communicate & organize events.

Please go join the Yahoo Group. If you haven't ever been part of a Yahoo Group before, take a minute to look through links on the sidebar of the group. Everyone needs to go to the Database & fill out the info requested there.

Please take a moment to introduce yourself, tell us a little about your shop, where you are from & what you would like to get out of this street team. Also, if you have any ideas or want to organize any promotion you might mention it now.

  • THIRD - Everyone Fill Out the Databases

After you sign up as an member on the yahoo groupr for the blog, EVERYONE please go to the database for members & ad your info in the fields that apply to you. You will see what I mean. This should get us all caught up on who has completed the Team requirments & who I can add to the 'Amys in the Arts' members list on the Etsy Team page.

  • THIRD - The Blog
Again, since the blog thing didn't work out as I had planned, we are going to change gears on it a little. Everyone who has already signed up to be an author will remain so. I am hoping these people won't mind being volunteered to help me keep the blog updated & announce group activities, treasuries that we snag, ad other teammates Etsy minis & whatever else is note worthy.

If you think you would like to be able to post entries for the team to see here on this blog, please email me at amysinthearts@gmail.com with the email you use to log into blogspot.

Signing up to be an author means you can create posts here & chat with other teammates. Please DO NOT change the format of the blog, the banner or anything else.

After you sign up, please DO add your Etsy mini to the side bar of the blog. Make sure it is just one picture in Gallery format, like the other minis shown.

Also, please note that buy signing up you are agreeing to be professional when posting here. No flaming or deleting other posts or comments. Please play nice & lets use this blog & forums (of sorts) to work together & build our businesses. Any misuse of your author powers will see you removed from the blog & the team. I'm sure this won't be an issue but I just wanna put it out there.

I am free for the next several days & taking care of these new changes & team updates will be at the top of my list of priorities.

For those of you who convoed or emailed me about the Team & are just now hearing back from me, I'm sorry for the delay. I've had several family emergencies (my granny was diagnosed with cancer & my dad had to have major back surgery) this summer, along with the normal nutty stuff that comes along with running an online shop. I hope you can understand & are still excited to join this team!

Hopefully this new system for the blog will make it so that you all don't need to depend on me (as much) to work together & figure events & promo stuff. I would really like to see several of you Amys step up & take the helm on projects & group events. You don't need my permission to coordinate anything. Just jump in & do it! Everyone working together & several people working on several types of promo events will make our team stronger then just one or two of us trying to lead the herd.

Okay, so let's get started. I hope this time we can get some momentum going!

Amy -
